Structural Changes in Block-Shaped WEBAM’ed Ti6Al4V Samples after Friction Stir Processing

In this paper, the structure and mechanical properties of workpieces made Ti6Al4V alloy in shape blocks manufactured by wire-feed electron beam additive manufacturing processed friction stir processing were investigated. Samples cut from upper lower parts block layer deposition direction using different tool loading forces. Studies have shown that such material forms a clearly defined thermomechanically affected zone represented nanosized ?-grains. zone, is characterized fine-dispersed with content ?- ??-phase plates. The after demonstrates 24% higher values ultimate tensile strength as compared to base metal as-built state.
